Envisioned as a ballet company by the dancers, of the dancers and for the dancers, dance training and education rank among the foremost priorities of the group. Most of its present soloists and members have had professional training exclusively with BM, under the watchful eyes of Macuja-Elizalde and ballet master Osias Barroso, who have drilled the company in the highly-rigorous Russian (Vaganova) method of classical ballet.

The company is housed in its private compound equipped with three rehearsal studios, a music library, a warehouse for costumes and equipment, living quarters for dancers and visiting teachers, as well as a collection of ballet books and video for the continuing education of the dancers and students. A fully-staffed office takes care of its administrative, logistical and marketing requirements and provides for all the training and performance needs of the dancers.

Aside from providing professional training and regular master classes for the company, Ballet Manila also conducts summer workshops and year-round ballet classes for young dance enthusiasts. Deserving students may be awarded scholarships while those who eventually qualify are invited to join the company as professionals.

To date, Ballet Manila is the only Filipino company that can capably stage a full classical repertoire in any given concert season. Onstage regularly at the Aliw and Star Theatres are critically acclaimed, full-length performances of Swan Lake, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Giselle, La Bayadere, Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, Le Corsaire, and other classical staples, as well as contemporary Filipino ballet pieces by some of the country’s most distinguished choreographers.

Likewise gaining much popularity and following is Ballet Manila’s unique tie-up with Manila Broadcasting Company, the highly successful concert series, “Ballet and Ballads” – featuring the artistic merger of pop songs and classical dance, offered free to the public. Meanwhile, at Star City, park-goers are treated to free ballet concerts on weekend nights, as part of Ballet Manila’s promise to bring ballet closer to the hearts of the masses.

Ballet Manila stands on a steadfast commitment to ballet and a collective faith in the group’s aims and aspirations.

It seeks nothing less than excellence with every performance and offers nothing short of that.

This is Ballet Manila -- your “Storytellers on Toes”.
